"Taxi Pay x Wonder" becomes the first and only payment gateway in Hong Kong approved by the Transport Department for a smart taximeter with e-payments enabled.
Hong Kong, 9 April 2024 — "Taxi Pay x Wonder" is proud to be the first and only payment gateway company in Hong Kong approved by the HKSAR Transport Department for its smart taximeter with e-payments enabled.
The platform integrates over 18 local and international payment options directly with the smart taximeter. Passengers can scan a QR code on their phone or tap a card on the terminal, with the fare linked directly to the meter — if the meter shows HKD 100, the QR link or terminal shows exactly HKD 100.
T+0 instant settlement to drivers on the same day
Through collaboration with ACORN, a prominent Asia Pacific private debt investor, Taxi Pay introduces instant settlement so drivers can access their earnings immediately after each trip and use digital payments just like cash.
Free smart taximeter installation for taxi owners
Eligible taxis receive smart taximeter and smart payment terminal installation completely free of charge, valued at HKD 5,800 and HKD 2,800 respectively. As of March 2024, over 1,000 taxis had been onboarded onto Taxi Pay, with a target of more than 8,000 taxis across urban areas, the New Territories and the Islands District by the end of 2024.
Driver Assistant app
- Automatic order acceptance: the system matches drivers with nearby orders by GPS, reducing empty trips and waiting time.
- Manual order acceptance: drivers can select from a pool of available orders for flexibility.
