Official company statement: Wonder's official statement on the AMG incident
Wonder Ventures Limited announces measures to support affected customers with verified transactions processed through Wonder, going beyond standard industry refund protocols.
On behalf of Wonder Ventures Limited ("Wonder"), we extend our deepest sympathies to all families, patients, newborns and consumers affected by the recent events involving AMG Medical Group ("AMG"). We understand that this is a challenging time, with many families left uncertain as to how the outstanding vaccination services may be completed.
Since the incident broke, we identified that some e-payment transactions related to AMG were processed through Wonder. As a leading fintech company in Hong Kong backed by Hong Kong Telecom ("HKT"), we believe all e-payment transactions should be smooth, safe and protected for consumers.
Under standard payment industry practices, refund requests must follow established procedures that can take over six months due to multi-party coordination. Given the exceptional nature of this incident, Wonder has chosen to go beyond standard protocols, establishing partnerships with trusted medical partners to proactively support eligible customers. We announce the following measures:
- We have partnered with the largest Hong Kong listed non-hospital medical service provider to provide vaccination and related services for eligible customers with a verified transaction processed through Wonder and a valid Wonder payment receipt.
- Eligible customers may complete their vaccination services at the partnered medical service provider at no additional cost.
- For customers without a verified Wonder transaction or receipt, we have no transaction visibility. Subject to consent, we may provide collected payment and medical records to relevant private and public organisations to assist them.
- For all verified transactions with a valid Wonder payment receipt, we shall seek reimbursement from AMG on behalf of the eligible customers.
